The most classic of all panamas, the Folder Panama (often referred to as Colonial) in a Cuenca/herringbone weave has a distinct crease in the centre, allowing it to roll with maximum ease and retain its shape, so is ideal for frequent travel. This is the most timeless style, being historically associated with likes of Theodore Roosevelt and Winston Churchill.  Also available in a standard Cuenca 3/5 weave and our luxurious Optimo 15.

Supplied with folding instructions - Travelling tube NOT included.

Having bought panamas from other suppliers, I suddenly found none could supply my size and were unwilling to try. Quite unlike the PHC who rummaged through boxes (I could hear them on the phone) and came up with exactly what I wanted, and posted it immediately. This is a perfect panama, soft and light to wear, with no snags or dents, and the better for being a folder.

Wonderful Service and Wonderful Product from a Family Business

Posted by Unknown on 6th Jul 2013

After my first experience of The Panama Hat Company I cannot speak too highly of the excellent product and the wonderful service. I needed to exchange my hat(with special hat-band) for a smaller size. I was amazed at how quickly and courteously it was handled by the friendly and caring staff. A wonderful family run business. Congratulations!

Very good foldable panama which was great value for money in comparison with others. The after-sales service was first-class!

    Adiction !

The Cuenca Fino 8/10 is the fourth hat I have bought from The Panama HatCompany.
This repetition does NOT reflect problems with the previous ones -- quite the reverse. The hats are excellent (and durable), and the service is excellent. I have multiple panamas because I like them very much, because it is helpful to me to have different hats in different places, and because I am self-indulgent.

    My first Panama!

Posted by Seth on 26th Nov 2011

Well, I think that I am safe in saying that the British Summer is well and truly over and I will therefore be saying farewell for the next 6 months to what has become one of my most treasured possessions - my first ever Panama!

I had been agonising over purchasing a 'formal' hat (as opposed to my various informal headgear) for several years. My father posseses a wide range of Fedoras, Trilbys etc and I guess I was reluctant to acknowledge my advancing years by imitating him. I finally threw in the towel and, after some extensive research, placed my order for the Cuenca Fino 8/10 with

It duly arrived well packaged in a large box that contained a set of excellent instructions as to folding and care of what I now consider to be my investment. I'd like to say that I immediately took to the hat but, as with all things new, it took me some time to adjust both physically and mentally to wearing such a showpiece of a head covering! Within a few weeks however, the praise from my friends and the admiring looks (and sometimes comments) from complete strangers made all reticence disappear. I have even struck up friendships with two such former strangers who commented on the beauty of the hat! All in all - what a great investment in a classic item of clothing. I am now looking for a Fedora (Trilby) and will be purchasing a Planter ahead of our next Summer!
