    My first Panama!

Published by Seth on 26th Nov 2011

Well, I think that I am safe in saying that the British Summer is well and truly over and I will therefore be saying farewell for the next 6 months to what has become one of my most treasured possessions - my first ever Panama! I had been agonising over purchasing a 'formal' hat (as opposed to my various informal headgear) for several years. My father posseses a wide range of Fedoras, Trilbys etc and I guess I was reluctant to acknowledge my advancing years by imitating him. I finally threw in the towel and, after some extensive research, placed my order for the Cuenca Fino 8/10 with Panamahats.co.uk It duly arrived well packaged in a large box that contained a set of excellent instructions as to folding and care of what I now consider to be my investment. I'd like to say that I immediately took to the hat but, as with all things new, it took me some time to adjust both physically and mentally to wearing such a showpiece of a head covering! Within a few weeks however, the praise from my friends and the admiring looks (and sometimes comments) from complete strangers made all reticence disappear. I have even struck up friendships with two such former strangers who commented on the beauty of the hat! All in all - what a great investment in a classic item of clothing. I am now looking for a Fedora (Trilby) and will be purchasing a Planter ahead of our next Summer!
