Your guided factory tour will take you into the heart of the Hat Making District. Based at the Heritage Hat House, our expert guide will accompany you around an original Hat factory that in 1918 used to make Straw Boaters. Comprehensive information in all aspects of the hand made processes of mould making, Blocking, Hand turning, Hat lining, Hat Cutting, Stiffening and finally Trimming. The techniques used in making hats are virtually the same today, as they were a hundred years ago. Visitors enter a time warp from which they can look into the virtual soul of what must be the world’s best-loved Hat Styles including the Iconic Panama hat, unchanged for 100 years! Your ticket price for £25 is an entrance fee for up to 2 people and will be deducted from the Price of a hat purchase should you wish to purchase a panama in our Factory Shop.
